FAN REVIEWS
I went to the concert in Nashville expecting for Dave to steal the
show.....how wrong I was! Sammy opened the show and put on one of the best
concerts I have seen in 10 years. The band was tight, Sammy's voice was
fantastic and the set list perfect! Sammy is a pure professional and works
hard to see that his fans get their money's worth.
Then there's Dave.........
I was expecting a kick ass show but got a pathetic lounge parody act(
was that really Dave on stage, I thought I was watching a SNL skit!)! What
happened to Dave? His band was good but Dave himself sucked! His voice
was bad,he looked old and he forgot lyrics (or he just couldn't hit the
notes so he would quit singing).Dave didn't have the energy level that
Sammy had and to tell you the truth...I don't think he really cared. Dave
was there to pick up his $100,000 for that show and do as little as possible
to earn it!
Sammy kicked Dave's ass from open to close, end of story!!

David Lee Roth is a bitter, old man. I enjoyed
Sammy's laid back attitude and constant appreciation for the fan support.
Roth was scarily rude to the ladies and his masturbation re-enactment with
a bottle of 'Jack' left the audience with an insight into his fried mind
that will take some time to replace. I wish that he would accept what the
years of tough living have done to him and tone it down a bit. He is still
in great physical shape, but he seems to barely be holding it together.
No way will the brothers pick him up for a reunion. That would be worse
than their current disappearing act. It was as close as we'll probably
ever come to the VH of old and it was definitely worth the price for both
performances.
Sammy's voice is stronger than ever. He put on
a fashion show for the audience wearing every single thing thrown on stage.
He even signed autographs while singing and had 40 fans on stage to boot.
I miss those 5150 days! He was very complimentary of the Van Halen boys
and said that although he wouldn't go back to them, he would love to play
a few songs at Cabo...

Sammy was scheduled to be the closer, but he
opened the Nashville show. From the beginning I could sense a different
feeling than the show I saw in Cincinnati two months earlier. Sammy
was really "on" tonight. When he got into Runaround, 3 Lock Box and
One Way to Rock, the sun was starting to set. The rest of the set
was great. Michael Anthony brought the crowd to the next level.
It was great seeing him play some of the VH tunes. Though the Nashville
show was the 14th time I have seen Sammy live, it was by far the best.
He is a true performer and loves his fans. Thanks for a great night
Sammy.
As for Roth, what else can be said except that
he is David Lee Roth. No further explanations need.

OK, I just got back from Nashville to see the
RED ROCKER. Unfortunatly I had to see a Vegas side show act along with
Sammy. I now see why Sammy is not headlining, for pity on the fans! I left
after the third song! Dave's band actually was really good, but was ruined
by someone trying to do Van Halen via frank SINanatra. Dave in your day
you were great, but please, GET OFF THE STAGE!!! But now, Sammy was f/n
rocking! I have seen you in mempho with and without V.H., jonesboogie,
samstown, and of course nashvilly. Now Sammy always rocks but there was
something special to this show. Michael! It was great to hear you guys
together again, you made the the hair on my arms stand up! Thanks to both
of you and the waboritas. Just got one question, were was Michael when
dave was onstage? Backstage doin waboritas, crackin jokes?
SAMMY, YOU JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER, KEEP ON RED ROCKING!!!
WABORTAVILLE, TENNESSEE!

I went to see Sam and Dave 8/3/02
Sammy kicked ass, I have seen him many times and he was as good as
I'd ever seen him, VH or solo. (probably better) I was just in awe
of him!
Dave on the other hand, now dont get me wrong, I love all era's of
VanHalen and they were my favorite band before Sammy ever joined, however
the Sammy era is my favorite, but I loved the Dave stuff too! Dave's performance
was the most pothetic display I've ever seen in my 31yrs of life, he looked
like shit, sounded like shit, and
just seemed like some dumbass corny old man trying to relive his heyday.
We were so glad Sammy opened the show, we left half way through dave'
show, I just could not take anymore, and I did not want a funky stigma
put on old VH.
Sammy was everything I thought he would be, and sorry to say so was
Dave.
Dave is now cubic zirconia, instead of diamond.

Of course I had to write it in RED.
When I heard that the Sam and Dave tour was on
and coming to a town near me, I knew I would have to be there. I
've been a "Red Head" for years and had been to a Sammy/Van Halen show
in the past so I Kind of knew what I was in for, but God Bless ya Sammy,
I had forgotton just how good it was. In the hot Tennessee dusk (Ambient
temp 96 or so, heat index somewhere near 105) Sammy put the crowd of somewhere
between 10-15000 on our feet and we never sat down. I mean it, no-one
sat down for the entire show. Being a relative senior rocker (in
my 40's) I have been to more than one or two concerts in my 25 or so concert
going years, so I have seen the good and the bad, lord help em, but Sammy
gets better with his years, just like his tequila.
Sammy, Thank ya, thank ya, thank ya a thousand
times for keeping the rock alive. I think it was you that said, "There's
Only 1 way to Rock". Thanks for practicing what you preach.

Sammy should have been the closing act!!!!
This is the third year in a row that I have seen him (STL 2000 & 2001,
Nashville 2002) and I never tire of his showmanship or his setlist.
He is definitely worth the price of admission. He received a far
better response than his Van Halen predecessor at this venue!!! Sammy
had the place buzzing and wanting more.
DLR to put it bluntly sounded
like a has-been, although he still remains in very good shape. He
acted as if he was on a model runway and not entertaining over ten thousand
or so fans who showed up to see the original Van Halen vocalist.
He was definitely a buzz kill after Sammy's set. Hopefully, DLR will
never torment America with a tour of this kind again!!! I always
wanted to see DLR back with Van Halen; (because I loved Sammy solo stuff
[being from St. Louis and all] and know he will succeed anywhere because
he's got such a great personality) but, now I understand why Dave isn't
and will never be again in that position.
Please bring the Cabo Wabo
Cantina back to the land of Jack Daniels as soon as possible. We'll
be waiting with bells on!!!

Sammy kicked major ASS!! and looked great
doing it.
Everyone was pumped up and having a great time
it was an awesome show. The first half anyway. NO ONE ROCKS
LIKE THE RED ROCKER!!!! Love ya Sammy!!!
DLR would be better off to take the roll of nickels
out of those tight pants and go to Vegas.(circus circus) We left
shortly after his ego trip and had to wait in line to get out of the parking
area. What a Waste.

I just witnessed one of the best concerts in my life Saturday night
at the AmSouth Amphitheatre in Nashville, TN. The only bad review
I can give is that Sammy opened up and based on what I saw, most definetly
should have been the closing act. From the time Sammy hit the stage
with Shaka Doobie to the ending encore of Dreams, the Red Rocker &
the Waborita's never missed a note. The crowd was on it's feet for
the entire show singing along to every word. When Michael Anthony
joined the band for some VH songs, it was truly a magic moment. I have
seen Sammy on many occasions and have never been disappointed, but this
night was like no other. The energy and chemistry Sammy has with
the audience is unbelievable. The show was filled with both Van Halen
songs and vintage Hagar tunes. It was almost unfair for Roth to have
to come out and perform after Sammy's show, because their was no way to
top it and everyone's energy was spent. I will give Dave credit,
he was better than I have seen him before as a solo act. His band did a
great job also. He nailed a couple of songs like And the Cradle Will Rock
& Unchained, but was not as sharp on many other tunes. Where
Sammy and the crowd were one, it seemed Roth tried way too hard to imitate
Sammy and be intimate with the crowd. In the end, Dave is Dave, and
that's all I am going to say about that.
The bottom line is that Sammy Hagar showed everyone Saturday night
that there is only one way to rock and he's got the patent on it! Redrocker
Rules again!

it's 11:43 and I'm home already, wanna know why?
cause we left before Dave's set was over! It was like a bad 80's hair metal
dream meets a cheesy Las vegas lounge act!! And to think i expected Dave
to blow Sammy away! I liked when Dave walked to close to a amp and the
feedback from the Mic nearly knocked him down, and that was the best part
of his show!!
Sammy on the other hand had a genuinly good time,
the 20 or so audience members that were seated on stage with him were having
the time of their lives too! He's such a goof ball, putting shirts on his
head that fans throw at him, it was way cool...and to think i really never
liked him too much...I'm going out tommorow to buy his solo stuff, and
his VH stuff!
WAY TO GO SAMMY & CREW!!

Last night in Nashville, Sammy and the Waboritas opened the show. Both
Sammy and his band sounded awesome! The song "Heavy Metal" kicks major
ass live! I had seen Sammy eight times live prior to this show. His vocal
performance last night was as good as any that I have heard. His voice
was very POWERFUL! It was cool to see Michael Anthony joining Mona on bass
and backing vocals. They both sounded great as well. Sammy and Victor both
did some major jamming on guitar. Sammy is a master at creating an atmosphere
that simply makes you feel good!
Then there was Dave. Dave came out in a glowing gold suit that was three
sizes too small for him. Dave's BAND sounded really good. His guitarist
played most of the old Van Halen stuff note for note. He had trouble with
the intro to "Mean Street" but did a really nice job on the rest of the
songs. After playing an Eruption-like solo, he was hit in the head by some
object thrown by a guy in the audience. Dave stopped the show and had security
throw the perpetrator out of the arena. As for Dave's vocals, all I can
say is that he sucked royally. I have always been a fan of both eras of
Van Halen music. It was difficult for me to believe that this was the same
guy that actually sang on those early Van Halen records. He seemed to make
no effort to stay in time with the band. His band was rocking but he was
just walking around, usually fondling himself, mumbling the lyrics. I have
read articles where Eddie Van Halen stated that he thought that Dave would
have trouble pulling off the songs live. Eddie definitely had legitimate
concerns. We could hear Dave singing Jump as we were walking to our car.
It sounded like bad Karaoke.

Just got back to Bowling Green from the Sam and
Dave show.......what an evening.
Sammy opened, and as usual captivated the crowd
from the very beginning. The Waboritas were in top form and from
the opening Shaka Doobie to the final note of Dreams, the band was tight.
Sammy was his usual fun self and had the audience in the palm of his hand
all night. It was nice see Michael Anthony join Sammy again for some
Van Halen numbers. I saw this same show 2 months agao in Indianapolis,
and Sammy and the gang just get better all the time. I wish more
performers could make pleasing their fans as important Sammy does!
Hats off to you Sammy!!
David Lee came out to "headline" the show.
What a joke. Dave's band was much improved over two months ago, so
much so that they outshined him. Dave does not the ability to interact
with the fans and quite frankly didn't act like he cared how he sounded
or presented himself. We left after only 30 minutes of Dave and the
aisles were full of people heading to their cars. I was hoping that this
experience would be better than the last time and althought I think Dave
tried, he just isn't championship material.
The champ tonight......Hands down, Sammy Hagar,
Knockout in the first round.

100%GUARANTEE OF A GREAT TIME WHEN YOU SEE SAMMY... HE NEVER LETS YOU
DOWN. THE WABORITAS ARE EXCELLENT AND FUN IS HAD BY ALL.. THE BAND HAS
FUN, THE CROWD HAS FUN AND THEY CONTINUALLY FEED OFF OF ONE ANOTHER! YOU
MUST SOMEHOW SOMEWAY GET DOWN NEAR THE STAGE! (IT IS NOT AS HARD AS YOU
THINK) AND OF COURSE MICHAEL ANTHONY SHOWS UP AND KICKS IT EVEN MORE.
MONA IS AWESOME AND HAS A LOT OF CLASS TO LET MICHAEL STEP IN - AND SHE
STILL ADDS SO MUCH TO THE SHOW..BOTH BASS, VOCAL AND HER FUN ATTITUDE!
MICHAEL AND HER COMBINING ON BACKGROUND VOCALS WAS INCREDIBLE. THE WHOLE
BAND HAS A BLAST TOGETHER AND YOU CAN DEFINITELY FEEL IT!! AND THAT
IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT!!! . AND FOR SAMMY - HE ACTUALLY TOOK A FEW MOMENTS
DURING HIS SHOW TO AUTOGRAPH SOME ALBUMS FOR SOME CLOSE UP FANS WHIILE
HE WAS PERFORMING ON STAGE - IN BETWEEEN LYRICS MIND YOU - BUT HE ALWAYS
MANAGED TO FINISH THE SIGNING FOR THE FAN AND ACKNOWLEDGED THEM - AND MOVED
ON TO THE NEXT PART OF THE SONG. HE DID NOT SKIP A BEAT. SAMMY IS
THE CHAMP , IT AMAZES ME THAT IT WAS QUESTIONABLE BEFORE, BUT I ALWAYS
ARGUED FOR HIM, THIS TIME THE ACTIONS AND MUSIC ARE DOING THE TALKING HEAD
TO HEAD. AND I AM SURE EDWARD WILL FEEL THIS ALSO.- BUT HE KNOWS MORE THAN
ALL OF US THE TRUTH...SAMMY - HE IS TOTAL CLASS, TOTAL NON STOP FUN.
SAMMY IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE A SHOWSTOPPER. BUT YET HE IS ALWAYS SMART ENOUGH
TO SURROUND HIMSELF WITH GREAT MUSICIANS. AND HE UNDERSTANDS THE
BIG PICTURE, BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN THROUGH ALL OF THIS BEFORE. HE HAS BEEN
IN BUSINESS FOR BELIEVE IT OR NOT 4 DECADES...(5 DECADES IF YOU COUNT THE
60'S AND I AM SURE SAMMY WILL) , AND WE WILL TRY TO GET HIM TO HIS
FIFTH DECADE OF MUSIC.
..2010.. THAT'S WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF !!!!I I (DOES ANYONE SMELL
A VH REUNION SAMMY STYLE THIS DECADE - IT WILL HAPPEN!)
I MUST ONE DAY GO TO SAN LUCAS AND EXPERIENCE THE SAMMY BIRTHDAY BASH
... SHORT TERM GOAL 2003.
PS. THE OTHER ACT ON THIS BILL IS NOT WORTH MENTIONING. STICK A FORK
IN HIM PLEASE AND LET US ALL GET ON WITH OUR ROCKIN' LIVES . I HAVE SAID
TOO MUCH ALREADY . ............

Let me just say this about the Nashville show,
I've never been one to get all hot and heavy about the Sammy/DLR thing.
I've always leaned more toward Sammy because that was my Van Halen, but
last night's show settled that debate. Sammy kicked ass period.
It was like the difference between music that meant something to you and
a Vegas lounge act. I don't want to slam DLR, but he just sucked.
The crowd was going nuts during Sammy's set and by the middle of DLR's
set....most folks were sitting down or leaving like we did. I would
actually travel to see Sammy's show ago and am thinking about making a
pilgrimage to Cabo Wabo. I love Jimmy Buffet and Sammy has developed
himself in to a Buffet for people who like rock. I totally dig it.
Rob Jones
P.S. Sammy, please please please work it
all out with Eddie and do at least one more album. Damn I miss it!
